A Quilter’s clapper also known as a tailor’s clapper is for anyone who sews and presses seams. The quilter’s clapper is the perfect tool for getting crisp, smooth, and flat seams. Clappers have been in the sewing world for a little over a hundred years. It is a fantastic tool that is still used in many homes today! They make a perfect gift for any quilter or seamstress, or a wonderful “treat” for yourself.

This handmade item works with an iron, ironing board, or a wool pressing mat. These clappers are made from premium handpicked ash hardwood. It is a durable strong hardwood. Every clapper is made to order with an additional option of laser engraving. As this is a handmade item there will be slightly differences in every clapper. These have a nice wide routed groove on each side for easy handling. Every clapper is finished with a smooth sanding process with no finish applied to the wood. This means that your clapper is ready to use right out of the box with no maintenance to be had. These clappers will last a lifetime and become an heirloom item for your family.

To use: Simply press your seam with a hot iron, immediately cover the pressed seam with a clapper. Leave the clapper on for 8-10 seconds and then magically you have a “permanent” flat pressed seam. Use the clapper to press seams, press hems, crease pants, or flatten down pleats.

Large clapper is roughly 12”x 3”x 1.5” and weighs 1.4lbs

Medium clapper is roughly 10”x 3”x 1.5” and weighs 1.2lb

Small clapper is roughly 6”x 3”x 1.5” and weighs 13oz

The current turnaround time is 5-7 business days.

Engraving: The additional option of laser engraving is $10 for up to 12 characters. For anything above that character count please reach out for a custom price. In the CHECK OUT NOTES please state the font and wording you are wanting engraved. Alex Brush font is our most popular choice. Please make sure you are spelling everything correctly as I will be engraving exactly what you state.
